Maternal & Child Health

According to UNICEF, every minute of every day, 20 children die somewhere in the world. Two-thirds of these deaths could be prevented by basic and inexpensive measures like vaccines. Children die as a result of growing inequities in the provision of essential health services - in short, a "worldwide public health disaster."

At the same time, many of the modest gains in women's health realized in recent decades are now threatened or have been reversed due to war, economic instability and AIDS. The illness or death of a woman has serious and far-reaching consequences for the health of her children, family and community.

BetterWorld supports the concept of "Healthy Women, Healthy World." Women play a unique role in maintaining the health and well-being of their families and communities. The foundation will work with partners to provide cost-effective and preventive measures that improve maternal and child health.
